LATEST NEWS FROM THE CENTRE OF BRITAIN
DINNER OF THE DAY
For the Autumn period we will be offering a 3 course dinner of the day - the price from £22.50 for three courses - a glass of wine of coffee may be taken in slieu of one of the courses.
BON APPETIT.
THE TUNNEL
The Reiver Tunnel, discovered when we re-built the Hotel, has been excavated as far as we dare, and a glazed floor is now installed to allow guests to view the entrance. Using dowsing techniques, the route of the unnel has been confirmed as leading to the old Vicarge building - a distance of about 250 yards.- Local legend suggests that the tunnel extends as far as Bellister Castle - but further investigations will be needed to confirm that!
ART AT THE CENTRE OF BRITAIN
We have made additions to our art collection
A series of "Charcters from the Centre of Britain" by Graham Sumner MAAIS. At the moment we have 4 "characters" - A Roman Legionary, Viking Raider, Border Reiver and General Wade - We hope ts add other "characters" in the near future
Watercolourist, Alan Reed, has painted for us a dramatic landscape looking over Lambley Viaduct, with Featherstone Castle in the mid-ground and, in the distance, Walltown Crags with the "three sisters" hills over which passes Hadrian's Wall. An inspirational view. incorporating the three great epochs of Haltwhistle- Romans, Reivers and the Industrial Revolution. Limited Edition prints of this painting are available by order.
DIGITAL TV
Our ITV region, Border, is the first to go all digital. The analogue signal was switched off recently. We have installed new flat screen TVs and DVD players in all rooms. So now you can enjoy a large range of TV stations a - plus radio stations.
